How to know proxy server address and port number? It is easy to know, you seem to find it when you go onto Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings etc.
First off: Local Proxy and the likes
A local proxy is a proxy server. This kind of server is used either on the source or target system. Local proxy is set up between the client browser and the Internet. This kind of proxies is usually used as filter or converter for Data Traffic.

If you know the IP address of your proxy server, you are allowed to enter any number leading by zeros. Enter for example: 130.25.0.1 (rather 130.025.000.001).
If a Web server for which you want to bypass the proxy server is available in your local network, enter the appropriate host names in the “Bypass Proxy” Menu. If you want to use, for example, a proxy server for access to the “example.com” Web on your LAN Network, type example.com in the “Bypass Proxy” Menu and confirm with “OK”.
Please note that Internet Explorer 2.0 has the different proxies for different Web types. When using this browser, it is not possible for example to configure different proxy servers for FTP and HTTP Web sites. Internet Explorer 3.0 and later supports the use of different proxies for different Web types. Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari browsers have this functionality out of the box.
